We are offering our two fillies that were born this year for sale.  DRR Desert Rose is our 1/2 Arab/Friesian and DRR 44 Degas our 1/2 Arab/Percheron.  Both are sweepstakes nominated and sired by the incredible black stallion Diadhem.  These are without doubt two of the nicest foals we have ever had in our program and both are sure to be sport horse champions in the future.  Please contact us for further information.

Another girl

maggie-foal-2008-4.JPGOur Percheron mare Maggie provided us with our second filly of the year and she has made quite a hit already.  We will be naming her “DRR 44 Degas” which is a mouthful but she was born this June very close to our 44th wedding anniversary.  She is likely the nicest half Arab foal that Maggie has ever produced which is saying something given the gorgeous babies she has had in the past.  She likely will also be the end of an era as we are determining whether to continue our breeding program beyond this baby.  If so, she has put an exclamation point on one of the most interesting times in our lives.

Al Rakkad strutting his stuff

rokki-2008-1.JPGAl RakkadOur two year old colt - Al Rakkad (Rokki) is really starting to come into his own and trying to convince us that he is stallion material which only time will tell.  We really like his temperment and gentle attiitude which - coupled with his gorgeous looks - is leaning us in the direction of retaining him as a breeding stallion.

New 2008 Vineyard

We planted an additional acre of grapes called “Crimson Cabernet” this year and are excited about the potential outcome.  The grape variety is new to the state and is a true cross between Norton which is Virginia’s original variety and the world famous  Cabernet Savignon.  The hope of the cross is that the Norton part will help make it impervious to normal East Coast diseases while retaining the renoun Cab quality.  Stay tuned for future updates.
