Frank Bell Clinic at Hilltop Ranch

Friday, May 19th, 2006

May 19 - 22 2006

Bob participated in a Frank Bell clinic at the Hilltop Ranch located near Syracuse NY. Despite challenging weather conditions of wind, rain, hail and snow (all in one weekend), it was a most successful clinic with nine riders and many more spectators. The clinic was organized by instructor candidate Kathy Barbarite who apprenticed with Bob last year at his facility. She did an outstanding job of putting all facets of the clinic together and its success can be attributed to her hard work. Many of the participants stayed at the HillTop Ranch which resembled a true old west setting. Two of Bob’s clients – Gretchen Pugh and Chris Longo - who board at his facility took their horses to the clinic and instructor candidate Lori Johnson came up from North Carolina to participate as well. Bob led an afternoon discussion to better understand the genetics of the horse and herd interaction which can help an owner better communicate with their horse. Read more about the NY clinic here.

New Foals in 2006

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Bob’s mare’s and two new foals were recently featured in the May issue of The Arabian News on pages 144 & 145. The article included pictures of each mare and foal along with a nice description of them as well. Much thanks goes to Galen McBride who is always very generous about the information she provides the publication on Bob’s activities.

We had two beautiful black foals born here at the Desert Rose Ranch this year. One is a purebred Arabian and the other ½ Friesian & ½ Arabian. Both are sweepstakes nominated colts and sired by the stallion “Diadhem” and owned by Gloria Davis. We plan to sell the ½ Friesian so look for him soon on the “For Sale” page of our website. The purebred will be kept and evaluated to see his potential as a breeding stallion. We plan on re-breeding both mares – plus our Percheron mare – back to Diadhem this spring since these foals turned out so nice.

We are in the process of collecting tape footage for a video that we hope to market that would discuss practical tips on breeding, mare care during pregnancy, a live foaling or two including imprinting, foal training, and finally weaning. This will be an effort of at least a year in the making so look for a product some time in 2007.

     Frank Bell Clinic Testimonials

I must thank you for setting me on my way to a better more confident and loving relationship with my horse. I used your techniques yesterday for the first time and saw such a huge difference in my horse. It was amazing. I know I will no longer have to fear this 1600lb giant trampling me! You guys are great!

Thanks again to all of you for organizing it. I’m still on a high from it — maybe the best horse experience I’ve ever had. I’m gonna have a great week!
Pam Murphy

I would also like to offer my deepest thanks and respect to  Frank, Sylvia, Bob & Linda, Chaz, Page, Rahaib, Melanie and to all of you, who helped make this a great event. You all are some wonderful people and I’m privileged to have shared our time together.

I had a fabulous time, wish I could of stayed for Monday!  I feel like this clinic has refined my techniques a lot more and I especially enjoyed working with Hollie’s gorgeous buckskin paint King who I think came a long way between Saturday morning and Sunday evening. Thanks for a great Event!
Jacqui

The best weekend I’ve spent in a long time. Thank you for lending me your fabulous gelding.  I learned so much and now I can continue practicing on my own horses. I can’t wait to ride the first one with just a piece of baling twine. I know I can do it. Thanks for all you did to make the clinic a success for us and the horses.
Diana

Just wanted to drop a line and say “thanks” for all of your hard work. The clinic was great, and my Mom & sister couldn’t have enjoyed it more. We really had a blast!

Thank you and your family for all of your hospitality. Everyone went out of their way and we greatly appreciate it. God be with you and your family.

Frank Bell Clinic in New York

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

Bob participated in a Frank Bell clinic at the Hilltop Ranch located near Syracuse NY on 19 through 22 May .

The clinic included a saddle and bridle fitting discussion; Bob led an afternoon discussion to better understand the genetics of the horse and herd interaction which can help an owner better communicate with their own horse; and an “animal communicator” gave demonstrations of her ability to read the horses thoughts.

Chas Frame who has long pursued the goal of becoming an accredited instructor was advised that he has now officially joined the group – congratulations Chas!  Chas brings much to the program as he is also a horse massage therapists and successfully worked on several horses with sore areas in the back, neck and legs.  The evening sessions were lively as well perhaps aided by a case of wine provided by Frank – all in all – a most enjoyable and beneficial clinic”.
